President Hu Jintao has met with visiting Thai Prime Minister, Samak Sundaravej.

President Hu Jintao has met with visiting Thai Prime Minister, Samak Sundaravej.

President Hu said China and Thailand are good neighbors, brothers and partners and the peoples of the two countries enjoy traditional friendship. He said that the past 33 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties have seen continuing development of Sino-Thai relations.

The Chinese President spoke highly of the Thai monarchy and government. He said they had always made relations with China a priority. Hu Jintaoi also thanked Thailand for its support on issues including Taiwan, Tibet and the Beijing Olympics.

President Hu expressed his hopes to deepen and expand strategic cooperation between the two countries.

Samak said Thailand has always adhered to the One-China policy. He expressed his appreciation for China's ability to face disasters and hope that the people of quake-hit areas will rebuild their homes as soon as possible. Samak said the Beijing Olympics is a great event for the world and that Thailand is against politicizing the Olympics.
