Among the most popular competitions of the modern Olympics are the equestrian events. The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, where that part of the Olympics will be held, is also hosting an exhibition for those hoping to learn more about the equestrian culture.

The exhibition at the Hong Kong Art Gallery features hundreds of items. Among them are horse sculptures made of ceramics, bamboo, wood, and various metals. The oldest one dates back to the Tang Dynasty in the 8th century. That's when horses were considered prominent animals due to the popularity of polo among the nobility. The curator of the gallery says the exhibition focuses on the role that the horse has played in the Chinese culture.
