Interview: UN chief hopes for strengthened partnership with China

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon will begin his visit to China on Tuesday. Ahead of his trip, he told Chinese media that he hopes his visit will strengthen the partnership between China and the UN.

He also said that, as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, China has made important contributions to all UN work. He said he expects China to participate more actively in international efforts to deal with the challenges of climate change, the UN's millennium development goal and the world food crisis.

The UN Chief also talked about China's preparation for the upcoming Olympic Games. He says the preparations have been extensive and the Beijing Olympics is set to become one of the most successful games ever.
