The President's first stop was Beijing South Railway Station. It is the new terminal for express lines bound for the coastal city of Tianjin and the economic hub of Shanghai.

The station has completed testing and will be ready for passengers at the beginning of August. Advanced technologies and energy-saving design have been applied here.

Hu Jintao took a trial ride on the recently-finished express railway between Beijing and Tianjin. The railway is China's first that supports speeds of up to 300 kilometers per hour, cut travel time between the two cities to 30 minutes.
