Olympic torch ends relay along Qinghai Lake

The Olympic torch has ended its relay along Qinghai Lake in northwest China. The country's largest salt water lake is the second stop of the three-day leg of the Olympic torch relay in Qinghai province.

The relay started at about 10:50 this morning (Monday). Dagar, the vice president of the Qinghai University Affiliated Hospital, was the first to carry the torch. Dagar was among the first group of relief workers to reach the quake-hit areas in Sichuan. He carried out 36 emergency surgeries, and treated over a thousand injuries.

A total of 162 torchbearers covered the six-kilometer leg. The flame will next pass through the provincial capital Xining on Tuesday.
