Ayatollah Ali Khamenei told a cheering crowd that Iran is seeking peaceful use of nuclear energy and will pursue and reach that goal. He said Iran opposes making nuclear weapons because it's inconsistent with Islamic principles.
The Iranian leader has accused the US of using nuclear energy to maintain its dominance over other countries.
The UN nuclear chief Mohamed ElBaradei has asked for more clarity from Iran about its nuclear program. Iran has refused to provide access to requested documents and individuals.
