Famine in southern Ethiopia is threatening the lives of thousands of children, as the lack of rain has caused poor harvests. People are travelling long distances in search of water.

In southern Ethiopia, starving children are arriving daily at hospitals, health centers and churches.
UNICEF says 6 million Ethiopian children under the age of 5 may be at risk of malnutrition. Another group estimates 3.4 million of Ethiopia's more than 80 million people will need food relief from July to September, in addition to 8 million regularly receiving assistance.
