| Transportation officials say repair work on the paralyzed Baoji-Chengdu Railway is going well. |
After two explosions on Saturday, a train carriage loaded with gasoline appeared at the entrance of the tunnel. The firefighters immediately sprayed water on the burning carriage to keep the temperature down, while a large digger was clearing the ground around the wreckage.
Meanwhile, a rescue team has been building a dyke along the Jialing River.
One rescuer said "We're building the dyke to protect the repair of the Baocheng Line from possible flood."
After a night's work, the first carriage was pulled out of the tunnel.
So far, three carriages loaded with gasoline have been retrieved.
