| The Aluminum Corporation of China says a joint venture smelter project in Saudi Arabia will cost 4.5 billion US dollars -- 50 percent more than was predicted earlier. |
It says the increase is due to the inclusion of a power plant to take advantage of low energy costs. Last year saw Chalco reach a deal -- with Saudi Binladin Group and Malaysia's MMC -- to build a 1-million-ton-a-year aluminum smelter.
