The new number 10 subway line, an underground airport expressway and other subway routes linking innercity spots will be gradually opened ahead of the Beijing Olympics. Over 900 new high-tech "Olympic" subway trains will also be put into use.

These trains are new achievements made independently through China's own innovation, research and development. With a special stainless-steel technology, the surface of the train doesn't need to be paint-coated. The material used to make the trains is lighter than the conventional carbon steel. Advanced antiseptic treatment also extends the usage life of the material to over 40 years. And stainless steel technology is more environment-friendly, highlighting the concept of green Olympics, high-tech Olympics and humanistic Olympics.

Special consideration has been taken in the design of facilities inside the train. There are no doors separating the cabins, thus ensuring better air circulation. TV screens have also been installed inside each cabin, allowing passengers to watch the Games through a mobile signal reception system.

The first batch of these Olympic trains will start operation in June.
