Zimbabwe's opposition party, the Movement For Democratic Change, says it will not meet visiting South African President Thabo Mbeki. The MDC wants Mbeki to be replaced as mediator, as the country plunges into deeper political crisis.
Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe met Mbeki for four hours on Friday, but an MDC spokesman says no one from the MDC met Mbeki, as opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai has no confidence in him. Tsvangirai has called for Mbeki to step aside and allow Zambian President Levy Mwanawasa to take over mediation.
Mugabe and Tsvangirai are in a standoff after disputed presidential elections in March.
