Japanese Emperor Akihito and his wife have visited Chinese President Hu Jintao in Tokyo to bid him farewell before Hu continued on his trip in Japan. This is the fourth day of his five-day trip aimed at boosting strategic and mutually-beneficial relations between China and Japan.

Hu Jintao said he had a pleasant time in Tokyo and has reached several agreements with Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda. He said he had contact with people from all walks of life in Japan and felt the passion of Japanese people in the development of Sino-Japanese ties. He said he believed their bilateral relationship has a bright future.

Akihito said he is glad to see the fruitful results of the meeting between Hu Jintao and Fukuda. He emphasized the importance of bearing history in mind when developing relations.
