Olympic flame to reach top of the world Thursday morning

The Olympic flame is expected to reach the top of Mount Qomolangma Thursday morning. The mountaineers say they are in good health and are well prepared for the ascent.

After snow over the weekend, the latest weather forecast shows conditions Thursday morning will be conducive for the climb to the peak of Mount Qomolangma, which stands at a little over 8800 meters. On Wednesday afternoon, torchbearers reached an altitude of about 8300 meters to prepare for the final ascent.

CCTV's English, Spanish, French and Chinese channels and the website will begin broadcasting the event live at 6 o'clock Thursday morning, Beijing time.

The twelve main members of the climbing team: Nyima Cering, Luo Shen, Dagguang, Jiji, Cering Wangmo, Li Fuqing, Huang Chungui, Yuan Fudong, Norbu Chamboi, Ngawang Zhaxi, Zhaxi Cering and Durbu Toinzhub.

And there are seven others as backups.
