Death toll of hand-foot-mouth disease rises to 28 in China

The number of children in China who have died from a contagious hand-foot-mouth disease, or HFMD, has risen to 28.

The deaths of two more children were reported by the health bureaus in the central province of Hunan, and in the southwest Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on Wednesday.

It's the first time that Hunan and Guangxi have reported deaths caused by current outbreak of HFMD. Most of the fatalities have so far been in east China's Anhui Province.
