The foreign minister of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) said on Tuesday his country supported the measures China had taken in Tibet to safeguard social stability there.

Pak said the DPRK valued its friendship with China and would "push forward the traditional and cooperative relations according to the demands of the situation".

He pledged the DPRK would adhere to one-China principle, and wished the Beijing Olympic Games success.

Xi said the Sino-DPRK friendship, fostered by the leaders of the two countries, was a treasure of the two peoples, and that cementing relations with the DPRK had long been China's consistent guideline.

Under the new circumstance, he said, China would further cooperate with the DPRK under the guideline of inheriting the tradition, facing the future, promoting a good neighbor strategy and strengthening the cooperation.

Pak arrived here on Saturday for a four-day visit. Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo and Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi met with him, respectively, on Monday.

Pak will also visit China's financial hub Shanghai.
