| China's State Council today (Wednesday) said the government needs to focus on preventing the current price increases from spreading. |
A regular meeting of the State Council concluded that the most striking problem for the economy is still rapid increases in consumer prices, requiring the government to be on guard to prevent further rises. Annual consumer inflation slowed to 8.3 percent in March from 8.7 percent in February, but remains near 11-year highs.
