Premier Wen arrives in Laos for working visit, GMS Summit

Wen Jiabao, arrived in Vientiane, the capital of Laos, on Saturday evening. The third Greater Mekong Sub-region Summit is scheduled to be held in the city on Monday.

The GMS covers six countries sharing the Mekong River --- Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam. Premier Wen will meet with leaders from the other five GMS members at the summit. He will also attend the opening ceremony of an international road connecting Kunming city in southwestern China and Bangkok in Thailand.
The Chinese premier will meet with Lao President Choummaly Saygnasone, and hold talks with his Lao counterpart Bouasone Bouphavanh on future bilateral cooperation.
Premier Wen and Bouphavanh are expected to witness the signing of cooperation agreement in the areas of economy, technology, coal and e-governance.
