China, Morocco to enhance mutual political trust

Senior official of the Communist Party of China Li Changchun has arrived in Morocco at the start of his official visit. Li said China will enhance mutual political trust and strengthen cooperation with Morocco, as the two countries have enjoyed diplomatic ties for 50 years.

Li Changchun, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee's Political Bureau, arrived in the Moroccan capital city of Rabat at noon on Thursday for talks with Moroccan leaders.
On his arrival, Li said Morocco and China have been cooperating in various field such as politics, trade, culture and tourism since the start of diplomatic relations in 1958.
Li said he would exchange views with Moroccan leaders on bilateral ties. He said international and regional issues were also on the agenda, with the aim of further improving the mutual political trust, economic cooperation and friendship between the two countries.
Li Changchun later met with Moroccan Prime Minister Abbas Al-Fassi.
During the meeting, Li said the trade volume between Morocco and China has seen an steady increase in recent years.
He added that joint projects in agriculture and the fisheries industry have already yielded tangible results.
And he said that China encourages more investment by Chinese enterprises into Morocco, as well as more exports from the north African country.
Li said the Communist Party of China is willing to improve ties with different political parties in Morocco, making further efforts to improve bilateral ties between the two countries.
Al-Fassi said Morocco is willing to work with China to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
He reaffirmed that Morocco would adhere to the one-China policy, and said that Tibet issue is an internal matter for China.
The two leaders later attended a signing ceremony of economic cooperation.
