US Deputy Secretary of State visits Pakistan

US Deputy Secretary of State John Negroponte and US Assistant Secretary of State Richard Boucher has arrived in Pakistan to met that country's new government.

Negroponte and Boucher met with Pakistan's new Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani. Thet travelled to the northwest frontier province for talks with officials responsible for the lawless tribal areas where militant groups hold sway.

They visited "security and development sites", including a mountain-top paramilitary base near the Khyber Pass.
