"China has always attached great importance to food safety taking a responsible attitude toward domestic and foreign consumers". Foreign Ministry Spokesman Qin Gang made the remarks at a regular press conference on Thursday.

He says the investigation into the dumpling poisoning incident will continue, and no unilateral conclusion will be drawn until the truth is uncovered. He also says the incident is a cross-border one and cannot be solved without cooperation between China and Japan.

Qin Gang said "We hope to establish a long-term mechanism on food safety cooperation with Japan as soon as possible to assure timely and effective bilateral cooperation should there be similar incidents in the future."
