The National Bureau of Statistics said that the annual growth rate of property prices remained high in January, but monthly growth has been slowing down since November, as the macro control policies have started to show their effects. Prices in some cities even dropped slightly.

The data was collected from 70 major cities across the country. Of all cities, Urumqi of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region has witnessed the highest annual growth rate in property price -- 25 percent higher. Guangxi's capital Nanning city also saw an annual growth rate of more than 20 percent.
