China's envoy on Darfur, Liu Guijin, has arrived in Sudan. Liu told local media that China is ready to further expand its humanitarian assistance to Darfur.

China's envoy on Darfur, Liu Guijin, has arrived in Sudan. Liu told local media that China is ready to further expand its humanitarian assistance to Darfur.

He says China has already worked with the major players on Darfur within the framework of the United Nation's Security Council. The Chinese special envoy then met with Sudanese Foreign Minister Deng Alor to discuss ways of finding long lasting solutions for the war-torn region.

Liu hopes to use his four-day visit to give the international community an opportunity to gain a more real and concrete understanding of the situation in Darfur.
