The Central Meteorological Observatory says (TAKE MAP) a cold front has brought a substantial drop in temperature to most parts of China since Thursday.

Provinces in the east and central regions of the country have been hit by snow and rain.

Some flights were cancelled and a few highways were blocked by the snow. Forecasters predict the snow storm will stretch from the eastern edge of northwest China all the way to the south of the Yangtze River.
