Thursday marks the eighth anniversary of Macao's return to China. The special administrative region held a flag-raising ceremony this morning at the Golden Lotus Square in downtown Macau.

Chief Executive Edmund Ho Hau Wah was on hand for the event. Observers say Macao's prosperity and stability since its return demonstrates the vitality of "One Country, Two Systems."

They say a variety of projects are thriving in Macao, with the help of stable public security and a steadily growing economy.
