Large group of endangered Chinese White Dolphins spotted

A large number of endangered Chinese White Dolphins were seen on Monday in east China. This was the biggest sighting of the species in over 2 decades. Experts believe the White Dolphin is on the verge of extinction.

However, more than 80 have now been spotted near the coast of east China's Xiamen city. Experts say the return of the rare and precious species is the result of local government efforts in environmental restoration and protection.

In previous years, only 2 to 3 dolphins were spotted annually. The Chinese White Dolphin is one of the species currently protected by the government.
