(BEIJING, December 5) -- As of December 4, 2007, 760,000 people had registered as Games-time volunteers for the Beijing Olympics, according to the BOCOG Volunteer Department.

In addition, applicants for volunteer city services rose to more than 830,000.

Commending their enthusiasm, a BOCOG official said some 30,000 volunteers had already taken part in the services for the Good Luck Beijing sport events -- a series of competitions spanning 2007 and part of 2008 to assess the preparatory work for the Games and the volunteer services in the city.

Since it was launched in June 2006, the volunteer program of the Beijing Games has developed into six working projects: The "Towards the Olympics" Volunteer Service Project;, The BOCOG Pre-Games Volunteer Project; The Games-time Volunteer Project; The City Volunteer Project; The Social Volunteer Project; and The Olympic Volunteer Work Legacy Transformation Project.

At present, campus applicants are undergoing psychological assessment and tests to check their English-speaking ability and knowledge range.
