Vietnam's worst flooding in 45 years has been creating havoc in the country's central and northern regions. The death toll from floods and landslides caused by Typhoon Lekima rose to 66 on Monday, with at least 18 others missing. In the worst-hit central province of Nghe An, 22 people are dead.
Officials say roads to some villages are still impassible, so military helicopters have been called in to air-lift food to people. Flood waters have damaged over one hundred thousand houses and submerged hundreds of thousands of hectares of crops.
They've also disrupted electricity and telecommunications systems in some areas. Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has visited the northern province of Ninh Binh. He urged provincial leaders to ensure flood victims receive enough food and medicine.
