Shanghai Special Olympics impress the world

Senior officials from the Special Olympics International say the Shanghai Games are going flawlessly. The officials gave their enthusiastic thumb-up at a news conference.

The SOI officials say the overall organization of the games has been perfect. Many added that the opening ceremony was especially superb.

Ossie Kilkenny, Board memeber of Special Olympics International said, "I'm thinking hard of which opening ceremony in the past can be compared with the Shanghai one. "

Todd Lee, Games & Competition Chief of Special Olympics International said, "I was checking my watch, the whole athletes' entrance ceremony was amazing. It takes only one hour eight minute 53 seconds for 15,000 people to enter onto the court."

The vast media coverage has also impressed participants. An athlete from Pakistan said he used to see very few reports of the games on local channels, but this time he's very happy to see himself and his fellow athletes on TV.

Pakistani athlete Adil said, "I'm happy for the world see us. We're not afraid of the media or to accept TV interviews."

The games started on October 2nd. So far a record 1,400 media agencies from over 120 countries have covered the event. Over 80 countries have broadcast the opening ceremony, and there have been more than 5,000 reports on the games.
