The President of the Republic of Korea, Roh Moo-hyun and the top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Kim Jong Il have begun talks. It's the first summit between the two leaders, and only the second one between the two countries since June 2000.

Yesterday, as he arrived in Pyongyang, Roh Moo-hyun was greeted by Kim Jong Il at a welcoming ceremony to launch the three-day summit. The ROK President says a new Korean Peninsula peace arrangement to formally end the 1950-1953 Korean War is at the top of his agenda. Other items include economic cooperation, building military trust and addressing humanitarian matters.
