Rocket wounds Israeli soldiers

A rocket fired by Palestinian militants hit a military base in Israel. The Israeli military says between 25 and 30 soldiers are injured.

It is highest casualty toll ever caused by a rocket fired from the Gaza Strip. Militants in Gaza frequently fire rockets towards southern Israel. Few of the attacks cause casualties but the psychological impact in the area is significant.

Israel pulled troops and settlers out of the Gaza Strip in 2005. But militant groups say they are still under occupation because Israel controls the borders, air space and coastal waters.
