UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon has met Sudanese leaders in an effort to speed up implementation of the 2005 Comprehensive Peace Agreement.

During a meeting with south Sudanese leader Salva Kiir in Juba, both sides discussed sticking points in the Comprehensive Peace Agreement. The plan ended more than two decades of conflict between the government and southern rebels.

Ban said he also discussed the deal earlier with Sudanese President Omar al-Bahir in Khartoum. The UN Secretary-General is scheduled to visit the war-torn western region of Darfur. And he said he had secured a pledge from Sudan's President to allow a Darfur rebel leader to leave the country for medical care.
