China is hoping that US consumers will be more confident about Chinese made goods once they learn how the government and companies are working to improve product quality.

Some members of a US delegation to China believe that confidence will be restored.

Meeting with the US delegation in Beijing on Tuesday afternoon, the National Quality Chief said Chinese products are safe.

National Quality chief, Li Changjiang said, "Most made-in-China products are safe. Some of them have quality problems. But the Chinese government takes the issues seriously and will be able to solve them."

The US delegation said they would pass on to the American people what they have seen and heard during their visit.

Ohio State House representative, James Raussen said that for some US consumers, concerns over the safety of Chinese products are temporary.

Their shaken confidence will be rebuilt when they see China's efforts in tackling the problem.

Earlier, Deputy Quality Chief Wei Chuanzhong met with a delegation led by representatives Mark Kirk and Rick Larsen, who co-chaired the bi-partisan House US-China Working Group.

After exchanging views on China's food safety and product quality, the US side said they are convinced that China is serious over the issues and believe that problems will be better solved through enhanced communication and technical cooperation.
