Sand in Yellow River flushed away

Water and sand diversion on the Yellow River has successfully increased water volume and reduced sand sediment in the river.

The gauging station at the Yellow River's estuary has recorded the biggest water flow of the year. The river water, yellow from its high amount of sand, is clearly set apart from the blue sea water.

Diversion on the Yellow River results in man-made flood crests flushing away sediment on the riverbed and in the reservoirs.

But as the water flow dramatically increases, flood authorities closely monitor the river to prevent accidents.
