Bird flu virus strain resurfaces in Germany

Source: CCTV.com | 06-25-2007 13:03

The bird flu virus has resurfaced in wild birds in Germany. It's the first reported case this year.

Eight dead swans and the bodies of a wild duck and goose have been confirmed to have the H5N1 virus. Local authorities are playing down any threats for humans. They are making sure the virus doesn't spread and contaminate the bird population in the country's south.

They have also set up a restricted area covering a radius of 4 kilometers around where the dead birds were found. Last year about 13 EU countries had confirmed cases of bird flu.
