China, Pakistan pledge to strengthen strategic, cooperative partnership

Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing has met with his Pakistani counterpart, Khurshid Mahmood Kasuri in Islamabad.
Both sides say their countries will work to consolidate friendship and strengthen their strategic and cooperative partnership.
Li has stressed that China's policies in South Asia aim to create stability and develop good cooperative ties. He also says he hopes that South Asian countries will enjoy political stability, economic prosperity and harmony all needed for common development.
Khurshid Mahmood Kasuri praised the healthy relations between China and Pakistan that have existed for half a century. He says he appreciates Chinese support for several economic projects.
Kasuri added that a joint five-year program for trade and economic cooperation, as well as an existing free trade agreement, will help to further strengthen ties.
