Hu back home with heightened confidence in Sino-Russian bilateral ties

Chinese President Hu Jintao has returned from his three day Russian tour. He came back to Beijing on Thursday with increased confidence in Sino-Russian ties and in the two countries' strategic outlook.
Hu's visit covered a wide range of issues cultural exchanges to trade and government cooperation.
The Year of China in Russia officially began Monday night in a ceremony at the Kremlin. Presidents Hu Jintao and Russian President Vladimir Putin believe it will promote the Sino-Russian strategic partnership and broaden understanding between the two peoples.
One of the most important events of the year, the Chinese National Exhibition was opened in Moscow with a theme of cooperation and harmonious development. The exhibitions display China's growth in many different fields.
The two leaders agreed to transform trading structures to improve two way investment, and China will support Russia's entry to the WTO. There will also be more cooperation in aviation, biology, and IT. And the two countries will continue the fight against terrorism within the framework of Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
The presidents sealed their commitments in a joint declaration, and nine documents on cooperation in railways, banking, telecommunications and more.
Qin Gang, spokesman, Chinese Foreign Ministry, said, "We are satisfied to see President Hu Jintao's visit was successful. It pushed forward the development of Sino-Russian strategic partnership. China will continue to work with Russia to implement the two presidents' agreements."
The roadmap for cooperation will mean setting more common goals between the two countries.
From expanding ties, to coordinating views on global issues, China and Russia are forming a partnership that is closer than ever. But for their shared dream to come true, the two countries will need to engage in further exchanges to manage the challenges ahead.
