The Lebanese government has met to consider a draft drawn up by the United Nations. And despite a string of ministerial resignations, Lebanese Prime Minister, Fuad Saniora, has announced unanimous support for the UN-backed draft.

Resignations and political disarray meant tighter security as the Lebanese government met to debate a UN draft proposing an international tribunal to try suspects in the killing of former Lebanese Premier, Rafik Hariri. Monday's meeting closed with Prime Minister Fuad Saniora, announcing a unanimous vote in favor of the draft, and hailing it as resounding support for the cause of justice.

Fuad Saniora said, “We approved unanimously a UN draft setting up an international tribunal as a rejection of, and defending Lebanon from, other attempts of assassination. We tell the criminals that we will not give up our right, no matter what the difficulties and obstacles are. Our aim is to achieve justice and only justice.”
