Mausoleum of Dr. Sun Yat-sen

Dr. Sun Yat-sen is buried at the foot of Nanjing city's Mount Zijin. The man is held in high regard by Chinese people all around the world, because of his lifelong devotion to his country.

Construction of the tomb began in 1926, and took three years to complete. Dr. Sun Yat-sen was buried there on July the 1st, 1929. Four Chinese characters written by Dr. Sun Yat-sen are inscribed on it, saying, "the nation is the people's nation and every one shall serve the nation selflessly." In the center of the hall stands a statue of Dr. Sun. The Chinese government has spent millions of US dollars in carrying out extensive repair work on the mausoleum over the past years.
