People in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao have all expressed support for the new law. Taiwan compatriots say peace and stability in relations with the mainland are in the fundamental interests of Taiwan people.

In Beijing, a seminar on the anti-secession law has been held by Taiwan compatriots. Attendees all expressed support for the new law, saying secessionists in Taiwan can't possibly represent the will of the majority of Taiwan compatriots. Instead, peace, stability, and the development of ties with the mainland are the common wish of all.

Ji Xin, a Taiwan-based lawyer, said, "I think this is the start of the legalization of mainland policies towards Taiwan. It's an obvious signal that the One China policy won't be changed."

Meanwhile, in Hong Kong and Macao, people echoed their support for the law. Chen Qingquan, a professor of Hong Kong University, said, "I always go to other countries. Wherever I have gone, all the Chinese people I met expressed their desire for a peaceful reunification of China. Separation is no way out. We need to use the means of law to ensure this process of reunification. Cessation is against the law."

Zhang Senling, Macao-based magazine editor, said, "I think the anti-secession law demonstrates the shared will of all 1.3 billion Chinese people. It's timely and important. It's a significant legal weapon against Taiwan secessionists. We, Macao compatriots, firmly support the law."

Chinese legal experts say the law expresses the central government's will towards peaceful reunification with Taiwan and its determination in maintaining national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
