IMF praises Hong Kong´s budget

The International Monetary Fund on Thursday praised Hong Kong's Financial Secretary Henry Tang who has forecast a balanced budget by the 2008 - 2009 fiscal year. An IMF representative said a reduction in spending can help cut the current budget deficit, and the SAR government is initiating sensible policies to achieve this. The IMF also supports Hong Kong's schedule for launching a sales tax.
