NPC Standing Committee Chairman Wu Bangguo made the announcement in his work report to the current NPC session on Wednesday in Beijing. He said the new laws in the making include legislation on bankruptcy and states of emergency. And a number of existing laws, dealing with issues like overseas trade, companies and epidemic prevention, are being amended.

Wu Bangguo also reviewed the work of the NPC Standing Committee in the past year. He said the NPC Standing Committee had approved the draft of constitutional amendments and worked out a five-year plan for the country's legislative work. It also discussed 12 draft laws and approved 10.
