HK, Macao, Guangdong join hands in bird flu prevention

Public health officials from Guangdong province, as well as the Hong Kong and Macao regions, have held a seminar on bird flu prevention in Guangzhou. They are aiming to prevent the further spreading of the disease.

The participants have agreed that since the three areas share very close relations, epidemic surveillance and communication is crucial. Medical experts have also agreed on mechanisms for epidemic reporting, as well as to share relevant experience.

A special medical workers training program on areas of clinical treatment, epidemiology and virus testing will also be held. A joint medical team comprised of experts from the three areas will also be formed in the near future. The team will hold group consultations in the event of any future bird flu patients in their respective areas.
