While Beijing gets ready to give Yang Liwei a big welcome to the Chinese capital, excitement about the Shenzhou manned mission is spreading around the country. Down in the south China city of Guangzhou, businesspeople are taking some time out from doing deals to consider the significance of the moment.

The news of the success of Shenzhou Five reached China's largest export commodities fair. And buyers as well as exhibitors express their excitement.

Consultant of Goodlin Italia Import & Export Marina Fiorenza heard the news on television Wednesday. She says the event marks a new era for China.

She said:"I'm very happy for China. Before this I heard nothing of the event. And now it succeeds. It's great news ..."

For Chinese businesspeople, the event has even greater significance. This exporter says he's been busy during the fair but he and his colleagues managed to squeeze in the time to watch the coverage. He says it was inspiring. Other exporters say the fact that China's space technology has reached this level will have a favorable impact on their business.

Vice president of China National Machinery & Equipment Import & Export Corp. Han Gang said:

"The launching and safe landing shows China's aerospace technology is among the most advanced in the world. This is very good news for us exporters of large-scale machinery and equipment."

The export commodities fair is into its second day and the first day hit a trading volume of over 500 million US dollars, several times more than the Spring fair. The news of Shenzhou's success seems to have given the fair an added buzz.
